Google launches social networking tool built into Gmail Buzz
Google has, as expected, announced yesterday that its new service joins an already full palette. The newcomer is socially oriented and just sit in Gmail, according to a particular angle that should not disrupt the regulars in the field. Here is a presentation of Buzz, a name which of course has not been chosen at random.
Buzz is part of Gmail and allows, in broad terms, to monitor the activity of the most frequently used contacts. As can be seen in the video above, just go look for the label "Buzz" in the left column of Gmail, then activate the feature. From there, the presentation and the interest of Buzz are reminiscent of Facebook.
must say that Google has had time to observe what were the other companies to build and thus put forward a service incorporating various ingredients picks right and left. We can change and publish a status function has become basic, "Love" a publication of a contact, such as Facebook, post links, photos, videos like on many services, and to relay contacts, as Twitter.
Unlike other networks, however, Buzz proposes to you automatically build networking contacts that will surround you. How? By bringing together those with whom you share the most, the list can grow depending on who you contact. In addition, the same person repeatedly mentioned by you or your contacts could also be added back in this way. But these additions are only suggestions: the user still controls the inclusion or not in the list. In addition, each of these choices information service about how you accept the suggestions, enabling adaptation of the engine.
In the information that can be shared, there is the inevitable text but also photos which can come from Picasa or Flickr, video from YouTube or news feeds. These can be in formats Atom, RSS, or OAuth. In addition, users can integrate content taken directly from Google Reader.
Buzz is a platform to share, related to some services, but we know that the firm continues to work on to increase the number of possibilities. All Gmail accounts have not yet received the change, and some will have to wait before they can participate in the new service.
One wonders however if Buzz will be a huge success. First, we must necessarily pass through Gmail. Then, users may consider giving more information to Google would be a problem. Finally, many may say that this is still a social network of more. He'll have to see how Google improves its service and whether it will be interesting enough to please many people as possible.
