Wells Ward in Douala Congo

On April 24, 1960, about 2,000 people were killed by the French army in the Congo district of Douala. In the morning, local militias, interested collaborators of the colonial power had the green light to kill the militants of the UPC and steal their property. Then to 15h, the fire started at 4 corners of this district wooden house. A French military helicopter flying over the houses and threw gasoline to stoke the fire. Those who wanted to escape were usually shot down by soldiers who surrounded the Quatier, others wanted to find shelter in the wells, they perished.
The next day, the lifeless bodies that littered the streets, too, were thrown into wells. At 10 am, This Monday, April 25, 1960, the entire neighborhood buldozzers shaved hoping to erase the traces of the massacres.

This series of images comes to 2000 copies, providing a memorial to the missing of the neighborhood. This monument built it slowly. The Collectif 12, of 6 to 14 December 2008, he acts 15 images of different sizes, Dec. 20 at the Prior Street (Paris) a single image was taken at 75 copies.
